Having done business successfully with Sears Parts Direct in the past, I selected them to order a replacement glass tray for our microwave. Their price was slightly better than other dealers, but not that much less.
Sears Parts Direct charged my credit card immediately for the part, then notified me one week later that the part was backordered from the manufacturer.
When I called to determine how long I would have to wait, the service representative was in a foreign country with highly accented English and a poor VOIP telephone connection. When I asked to speak with a supervisor who spoke clear English, our connection was cutoff. I called back and was told no information was available on the delay and it would be "escalated" for further information.
One week later there was still no word. I then used their "chat" interface and learned nothing more.
Three weeks after ordering, I received an email with an updated delivery estimate. The correct item eventually arrived nearly a month after it was ordered.
I believe it is improper for a company to charge for a part before it is available to be shipped.
I am not likely to order through Sears Parts Direct again.
