Refrigerator Switch 549695

We broke the little plastic switch that makes the light come on when you open the refrigerator door several weeks before we finally ordered a replacement part. It was reasonably priced and it arrived in just a couple of days. My husband installed it in just a couple of minutes and we are sooo glad that now WE HAVE LIGHT IN OUR REFRIGERATOR!

was sort-of a universal switch from my research by part #. just had to split the wire molded plug. its a tight fit in the panel, just filed a little to enlarge one side of the hole and it snapped right in.

Make sure the electric power is turned OFF! Tools required: A wide blade and a narrow blade screwdrivers will work. A drum brake adjuster tool works even better to pry out the bottom of the switch first. Then reverse the process and it will be great to have a LIGHT again.

The switch works, but was very difficult to install. I repeatedly tried to push the part into the slot (where the former switch fit), however, I would not go in. So, I watched numerous YouTube videos to make sure I was doing it correctly. I was. Finally, I got my hammer and carefully hammered the switch into the slot in the frame. That worked... but the process took too much effort and should not have had to hammer the switch into the slot!

I bought a part for my refrg that only cost $20. Sears charged me an additional $10 just to send it by mail. Very small part that showed up in my mail box in small envelop. How can you charge such high shipping rates and such small parts??? Crazy!
