dryer belt replacement

This is a complete take the dryer apart repair. But it is a good chance to go through rollers gaskets seals and all the components to renew your dryer or see if it it worn to a point of non repair.

The parts fit correctly

The whole machine had to be disassembled, this isn't a novice repair. The console has to be removed, upper rear panel, top, lower access panel, front panel with door, vent duct, and drum. Clean out all the accumulated lint, install the belt around the drum and make sure you sit the drum back on the rollers at the back of the machine, you might need someone to hold it in place while you reach under the drum and feed the belt under the tensioner. Reinstall all the panels hook the two springs to the door hinge and make sure you can turn the drum by hand before you turn it on.

Smooth installation

The belt was slightly narrower than the one it replaced. Once I figured out how to rout the belt around the motor and pulley, it went well. None of the videos showed the model of dryer that I had so I had to guess at some of the disassembly and assembly.

Pretty easy to install

It took about 45 mins but it was the first time I did it. If I have to do it again, I'm sure it'll take less time. The video on Sears website wasn't very helpful. I had to google the video for a high efficiency dryer. The hardest part was having to push the tensioner with 1 hand while wrapping the belt around the pulley with my other hand. In the video it shows the guy doing it all with 1 hand. Also my son had to hold the drum up while I had the dryer apart, so it takes 2 people.

Good DIY Part, but Pricey vs Alternatives

Replacement belt was the right part and installation was fairly easy. However, pricing was more than 3x the cost of the generic brand at local home improvement stores.
