Our ice maker on our 12 year old fridge we out a few months back, (10 months). Didn't really care about having ice, as we typically drink tap water anyways. But it was on the honey-do list so, when I went to look for a replacement ice maker found that every place was out or that it was going to be 6 months for the replacement. Then I found out the reason for the delay was due to a separate plastic part on the ice maker assembly. The motor was avaliable with in a few days.
The part arrive 1 day later than the earliest estimated day, which was still within range. After 3 screws, the part plugged right in. Now we have ice. It did take a little longer to ship then I had liked, 8 days total, but it was a lot better than the original 6 months.
