Freezer Door Gasket

This gasket is easy to install if you take your time. Please note, that some gaskets simply push on / off. But some are actually tucked behind a plastic sleeve that must be removed first. Make sure you know how your gasket is installed. Some door sleeves are held in place by stainless sheet metal screws. Lifting on the old gasket will allow to find these screws. You may have to stretch the old gaskets. Warm water works. Again , take your time and go slow because you don't want or need a tear. After removing the old gasket clean all sealing surfaces. If you have some rust a little CLR will do the trick.

Easy to install alittle time consuming

It was easy to install. I put it on then let it sit for 3 days to allow it to form to the upright freezer door frame before i plugged in my freezer. Once my freezer had been running for 24 hours i then lightly ran my hand around the whole door frame checking for any cold air leaks. This gasket works perfectly. I am very happy with it.

Easy to replace freezer door gasket.

Before taking your freezer door off, do a quick check to make sure the gasket size is correct. Recommend to wipe clean the gasket and place it flat on the floor. Make sure no there is no damages to the gasket. Use the heat gun (hair dry) to flat out any kinks/twists in the gasket. Take freezer door off and place it flat on the floor. If you're not use to this type of work, take note of how the old gasket oriented and stalled on the door. Loose up all the screws around the frame, but do not remove them. Gasket is easily removed, after all the screws are loosen up. Remove old gasket and replace with new gasket. Start from one corner, slide the gasket in under the frame. Instead of go around to the next corner, go to the opposite diagonal corner. This way, you stretch the gasket out more evenly. After slide the gasket in, from both opposite corners, work around to have the gasket slid in under the frame. Make sure it is stretched out evenly all around before tighten all the screws. Suggest to start tighten the screws, start from the middle out to both corners. High tight is good. Don't want to over tighten you may strip the screw.

Did What I Needed

This would have been an easier install had I thought it through before starting. After removing about half of the ~ 40 screws I realized that all I really needed to do was to loosen them. This makes a huge difference in terms of how long the repair takes.

Easy to Install

Easy to install door gasket. Use a hair dyer on low setting after install to help remove creases and expand the gasket to its original shape after shipping.

Not the right size

Unfortunately even though the parts number indicated that this would be a replacement part for the freezer we have, the part that arrived was too big. I am not surprised - our freezer is almost 20 years old so I'm sure Sears doesn't make these parts anymore, but it was worth a try.
