Fimco Parts

In addition to selling pressure washers, Fimco is a leading seller of yard sprayers in the United States. Over time, your equipment may not start, have a weak spray or lose power. These issues can typically be repaired with the help of a replacement part.

Treating common pressure washer issues

  • Engine won’t start—It’s vital to remember to change the oil in the engine of your pressure washer. When the oil becomes bad, it won’t lubricate and cool engine parts.
  • Weak spray—A clogged inlet screen or hose might cause weak spray. Attempt to clean the pieces thoroughly, and then test the jet. If it's still weak, you’ll may need to replace pump.
  • Losing power—Besides frequently changing the oil, you’ll want to make sure you're using a clean air filter. A dirty filter can also cause your carburetor to become sticky and possibly lead to failure. If the situation is too severe, the carburetor will need to be replaced.
  • Won’t mix detergent—Should you notice your detergent isn't mixing with the spray, you’ll want to first make sure you're using the right tip. A low-pressure spray tip is required when using detergent. If the problem persists, you may have a clogged siphon tube. Try cleaning the tube to remedy the issue.
  • Starter rope won’t retract—There's a spring on the recoil starter that works to bring the rope back in. When the spring is broken, you’ll notice the starter rope won’t recoil. You can replace the spring alone but replacing the recoil starter is easier.

Top five components of a yard sprayer

To understand how to repair your equipment, it’s important to know what makes it tick. Here are the top five components of a yard sprayer and problems you may face.

  1. Pump—The pump is what creates the pressure within your sprayer. When your equipment doesn't provide adequate pressure, you may have a cracked gasket. Replace the gasket to fix the pump.
  2. Hose—The hose transports water from the pump to the nozzle boom. If you notice the hose sputtering water, it's likely damaged. Stop use immediately and replace the hose. Failure to do so can lead to damaging your lawn.
  3. Sprayer boom—The sprayer boom is a pipe with attached nozzles that distributes spray over a wide area. Nozzles on the spray boom can get clogged. Clear any nozzle clogs to evenly distribute the spray.
  4. Spray gun—Failure to clean your tank after use can lead to clogs in the spray gun. This will make it impossible for water to flow from the gun efficiently. Try cleaning the spray gun or replace it if it's too dirty.
  5. Engine—The engine is the power source for the pump on your sprayer. If you don't maintain your engine with cleaning, oil changes and air filter replacements you can encounter engine failure.
