Daewoo Parts

The audio and video equipment available from Daewoo consists of pieces of electronics that require precise operation when it comes to their component parts. Devices such as televisions, speakers, DVD players, amplifiers and camcorders can break down in numerous ways depending on which parts have malfunctioned. It can be helpful for you to understand how and why these breakdowns occur to ensure your DIY repairs are a success.

Some common mishaps that happen to audio and video equipment

With that in mind, here are some of the more common malfunctions that each of these pieces of equipment can experience:

  • Television—A common problem with these products is the screen malfunctioning. The most obvious symptom is the screen going completely black, but there are other signs, too, such as lines on the screen and discoloration.
  • Speakers—Speaker damage almost always comes as the result of playing music too loud or for too long. This is especially true of speakers that are not rated for the power output of the receiver. Garbled noise, popping and a lack of sound are indicators that the speakers are blown.
  • DVD players—DVD players have lenses in them that help the system read the disc. If this lens becomes cracked or smudged, then either the DVD will skip around or it will not play at all.
  • Amplifiers—Amplifiers are generally damaged when the volume level is turned up too high. This puts undue strain on components, causing them to overheat and shut down.
  • Camcorders—Camcorders can run into problems with the battery not holding a charge or cracking open and leaking fluid everywhere.

Diagnosing problems with your amplifier

If your amplifier doesn't work as expected, then assess if you have been overusing it as stated above. Most amplifiers have a kill switch on them that is triggered by extreme temperature. If your amplifier makes a humming noise when turned on, it may be due to volume control issues. If not, it could be one of the other auxiliary components connected to the amplifier. There might also be a grounding issue either in the amplifier or in one of the other components.
