Leaf blowers make it easy to remove dead leaves and other loose debris, and quality Homelite leaf blower parts ensure safe, reliable, and powerful performance. Starter problems are a common issue for Homelite leaf blowers. The following tips often solve these problems.
Dirty air and fuel filters often cause starter problems. Some filters can be cleaned and reused, while others are disposable leaf blower parts. If you find a clogged fuel filter, drain the fuel tank before you replace it. Otherwise, old fuel left in the tank will quickly clog the new filter.
When filter maintenance does not fix a starter problem, the next step in leaf blower troubleshooting is to clean gummy fuel residue from the fuel lines and carburetor. The easiest approach to cleaning these parts is to spray aerosol carburetor cleaner through the fuel adjustment holes. Working with one screw at a time, carefully tighten the screw as much as possible. Count the number of screwdriver turns, and write that figure down. Remove the screw, insert the carburetor cleaner nozzle into the hole and dispense the cleaner. It is extremely important to return the screws to the exact position in which you found them. Tighten each screw all the way, consult your notes and loosen the screw by the appropriate number of turns.
Damaged or defective spark plugs are a major source of leaf blower starter problems. Remove the spark plug, inspect it for cracks and check the electrode for scorch marks. Replace the plug if it is damaged or extremely old.
