Question and Answers

Q:

What does a 179 cc engine equal in HP?

A:

There is no definite horse power per cc formula. The rpms of the engine, the tuning, the wear, all contribute in any calculation.

If you search the internet for cc's vs horsepower, you will find many lists of engines the experts have labeled a certain horsepower.

The one I settled on to give you is a Briggs and Stratton Industrial grade engine. This engine is 148 cc's, and it is rated 3.5 horsepower.

Q:

How can I fix the recoil on my Craftsman Gas Brushwacker? The cord will not retract.

A:

Remove the trigger housing on the drive shaft by removing the 4 screws and separating the housing. Make note of how the trigger and the throttle cable mount in the housing.

Remove the clamp on the clutch cover and remove the drive shaft and housing from the clutch. (it pulls out).

Remove the screws from the clutch cover and remove the cover.

To remove the clutch drum, remove the small torx head bolt in the center of the drum. The clutch drum will slide off the engine shaft.

Remove the screws holding the fan housing to the engine and remove the fan housing. The rope and the starter pulley are inside the fan housing.

Be very careful removing the starter pulley and spring. The spring will unwind violently if it is released.

As you install the rope on the pulley, turn the pulley. Let the turning of the pulley wind the rope and it will load the spring so it will retract.

Q:

What type of oil do I use for Craftsman Pressure Washer model# 580-750193

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry but the model number you have submitted did not pull up for me. I do not want to give you information from a different model because not all the pressure washers use the same oil. The pressure washer has oil in the engine and the pump and they are different. Most engines use SAE30 motor oil. If you could please double check, the model number and specify if you need the information for the pump or the engine.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
