Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my Maytag dish washer blow the fuse whenever it is turned on?

A:

A direct short to ground will cause the fuse to blow when the dishwasher is turned on. You did not indicate what switch the nickel was around and I assume it was on the dishwasher near the door latch/switch area. This short could be caused by the nickel that was visible at one time and now it's not. It could be stuck or welded across a hot lead and ground causing the fuse to blow when the door is latched and timer turned on. There are a lot of other possible reasons why it can blow the fuse. Shorted wires or shorted electrical components. A visible inspection of the wiring and components would be the first thing to check.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.
