Q:

Craftsman 3600 watt generator won't run off choke

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the generator. If the engine will not run with the choke off I suspect the main jet is partly plugged with debris. Cleaning the carburetor will usually cure this problem. If the unit is new, I recommend taking it to one of our drop off locations to have it repaired. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

If this is an older unit, you can still take it in to be repaired or repair it yourself. If you need the instructions for cleaning the carburetor please reply below with the model number off the unit. I believe the model number will start with 580.

Q:

Craftsman Generator has no output after back feed (7 hp, 3600 watt)

A:

Thank you for your question.

You are correct when the generator get a back feed it will usually short out the rectifier. I have also seen a back feed burn out the stator. I recommend taking the generator in for service. They will be able to ohm the stator and check all other components before giving you an estimate to repair the generator. I would hate for you to replace the rectifier and find there is more wrong with it. Once the rectifier is replaced, the fields need to be flashed to get it working again.

Q:

Kenmore Gas range, 665.72029100. From the stanley 95 Wp, Micro Switch, a rod goes into the insulation under the gas burners. Does this rod connect to anything?.

A:

Thank you for your question on the lock rod for the self-clean locking mechanism.

I believe the rod you are referring to is the rod that attaches the lock motor to the lock hook to lock the door for self clean.

It should be connected to the motor on the back end and the latch hook on the front of the range.

I will give you a picture of this area.

I hope this will help.

A:

Thank you for the update. The switches on the self-clean lock motor are only included with the lock motor assembly. In order to get the lock rod back onto the lock motor you will usually have to at least remove the lock motor so you can turn it to get the hook on the end of the wire back into the hole on the lock motor cam. I order to do this you will need to remove the back panel off the range to gain access to those screws. SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others. I hope you were able to get it reconnected. Sam A.
