Question and Answers

Q:

Water softener Whirlpool whes20

A:

The image below may help you reassemble that valve. The rotor will need to be turned clockwise to the service position before tightening the screws.

Based on your symptoms, I suspect that you may need to clean that venturi as described in your owner's manual after you reassemble that valve. Here is a link for the owner's manual in case you need it: Whirlpool Water Softener WHES20 Manual .

Sears sells water softener salt for that brine tank. Here is a Sears.com link for one type of salt that you can use in that water softener: Morton White Crystal Water Softener Salt -- 40 lb. Bag . You should also be able to buy that water softener salt at your local Sears Store.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine the water softener and complete this repair, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Q:

whirlpool whes20 water softner

A:

Thank you for the update on the water softener.

You will need to clean the venturi that creates the draw for the brine to be drawing into the resin bed.

You will need to clean the salt tank of water and salt and then put the salt back if you have not already done so.

Since this softener is made by the same company that makes the Sears softener I will give you the troubleshooting web site that may help you.

Kenmore water troubleshooting web site .

Please let me know how it turns out.

Q:

I have a whirlpool water softener #WHES20. & I want to know how to install parts #7264891 & #7285847 to my model. Please help.

A:

Thank you for your question on the water softener parts to install.

Both of these numbers refer to an electronic control.

The part number I show for the control is: 7285847 this is a substitute for the 7264891.

The control board is fairly easy to install.

Unplug the power supply from the outlet.

Remove the top cover to expose the control mount and face plate.

Unplug the wire harness from the connector on the control board and release the holder for the control board.

Install the new control board and plug in the wire harness to the new control.

When you are done installing the control you will need to set the time and hardness level and when it boots up please make sure it has the correct software version on the display for your model.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
