Question and Answers

Q:

Jenn-Air Electric Oven sve47100w Bake Element Not Working

A:

Check to see if the broil element is working. Check to see if the stove top elements heat. If none of the elements in the range are heating then you may have a voltage supply problem. Check the house circuit breakers or house fuses for the range in that situation.

Since you did not mention a problem with the stove top burners, I assume that they are working. If the broil element does not work and the serial number on your range is 14 or higher, then you could have a problem with the high limit safety thermostat for the oven elements. A failed electronic oven control board could also prevent the oven elements from heating. On that model of range with a serial number that begins with 10 through 13 as the first 2 digits, you could have a bad electronic oven control board or a wiring failure that is causing that problem. If the broil element heats, then you probably have a bad electronic oven control board causing this problem. A shorted out bake element in the oven will often damage the electronic control board. Replacing that component may fix your problem.

There are differences in the specific versions of this model of range based on the serial number. The first 2 digits of that serial number determines the "Series" number. I recommend that you reply to the thread with that serial number if you want to fix this problem yourself. We can help you further with troubleshooting and parts information once we have that additional information.

Q:

Jen Air model sve47100W, s/n 20861439wm - oven flashes F9

A:

I provided technical information for that Jenn-Air range in the images below. That F-9 code does indicate that the control board detects a problem with the oven door lock circuit. The information shown below should help you check that circuit using the test program for the control. You could have a bad control board in the console or a problem with the switches. A wiring failure or corrosion on the wire harness contacts could cause this failure. Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the range to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. If you need more help, reply with additional details based on the technical information provided below.

If needed, you can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

This type of range can difficult to diagnose and repair. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
