Question and Answers

Q:

Self cleaning oven goes on (no codes displayed) but shuts off after one hour and does not clean the oven.

A:

Make sure that you are setting the self-clean cycle correctly on the clock control. The instructions for setting that self-clean cycle as shown in the image below. Here is a link for the full owner's manual on your range in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

If you are setting the oven to clean for 2 or 3 hours and it is shutting off after only one hour then the clock control board in the console will need to be replaced. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Use the full model number of your range to access the parts list diagram for your exact model. The number that you provided in your details is the part number for the owner's manual. The above information is based on the models that use that manual.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your range. The model number is around the opening to the oven cavity (open the oven door to view this area) or it could be on the base of the range in front of the left or right front leveling leg (open the bottom drawer to view this area.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your range.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

7909641440C range - Simmer Select Burner does not work

A:

I read through the information in that previous thread where you received the assistance from Joey S. This appears to be that previous thread: My Kenmore electric glass cooktop stove, #7909641440c element indicator light stays on all the time. . Joey provided some good information about those control boards. Based on your current details, I suspect that you have a problem with the Simmer Select control board. You may not be getting the 120 volt L1 leg of voltage out of that Simmer Select control board through the orange/black wire highlighted on the wiring diagram in the image below. With the range unplugged, you should measure around zero ohms of resistance (continuity) through the P2 and P3 spades on that Simmer Select control board. I recommend that you check that issue first. If you measure OL (open load or infinite resistance) through the P2 and P3 spades on that Simmer Select control board, then that component will need to be replaced. If you do measure continuity through those spades, then the next step would be to check for voltage (120 volts AC) between P3 and P4 when the range is plugged in. NOTE: You should only conduct that live voltage check if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely measure that live voltage. Wear electrical safely gloves and safety goggles when checking live voltage. Unplug the range as soon as live testing is completed . If you do not measure 120 volts between P3 and P4, make sure that you have voltage going into that Simmer Select control board by checking for 120 volts AC between P2 and P4. If you have voltage into the control board but no voltage going out then that Simmer Select control board will need to be replaced.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.
