Q:

My electronic smoke detector is chirping, even after I changed the battery. What could be the problem?

A:

Your home probably has more than one smoke detector. A bad battery in one smoke detector can cause all of them to chirp in some situations. I recommend that you change the batteries in all of the smoke detectors in your home. That may fix your problem. If not, then you may need to replace that smoke detector.

Q:

How do I get the smoke smell out of my house?

A:

Airing the house out like you have been doing is probably the best and quickest way to get rid of the smell. You can also use lots of Fabreze as suggested in the article provided by Raquel F. in the above response.

Wipe the ash residue out of the oven. Clean the surfaces around the oven (especially above it).

You may need to wash the curtains (or dry clean them if necessary). Fabreze can often remove the smell from most curtains instead of dry cleaning them if they are not machine washable.

These tips should help you resolve this problem.

To prevent excessive smoke in the self clean cycle of the oven, be sure that you follow the directions in your owner's manual. Wipe out any excessive spills before beginning a clean cycle (especially grease or oil spills). This will help minimize the smoke emitted during the self clean cycle. Ventilate the house as much as possible when cleaning the oven.

If hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and the model number of Kenmore oven or range.

Q:

Where is the temperature detector in my Kenmore refrigerator model 25361702400?

A:

The temperature detector (thermostat) is located in the control housing on the roof of the fresh food compartment. The top portion of the refrigerator must be cold in order to satisfy the thermostat and shut off the compressor.

A portion of the cold air from the freezer is blown down into the refrigerator through an air diffuser at the top rear portion of the roof of the fresh food compartment.

You can view an exploded parts list diagram of your refrigerator on the Sears PartsDirect website www.searspartsdirect.com . The temperature control is KEY 21 on the SHELVES subcomponent page. The air diffuser is KEY 12 on this same page.

If you are having a cooling problem or need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
