Question and Answers

Q:

does anode of diode go to red lead on capacitor or white lead. Diode got hot. Could that be capacitor?

A:

The diode connects to the same side of the capacitor as the lead from the magnetron. The wire from the high voltage transformer goes on a terminal by itself.

It is normal for the diode to get hot, it should not burn. The capacitor doesn't normally cause a diode to fail. Diodes fail more often than capacitors.

Q:

washer goes into hf failure

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your washer. The FH error code comes up when the washer should be filling with water but the control board does not sense any water entering. By what you have stated, the washer works fin on hot water I would suspect a cold water fill problem. First, turn the water off to the washer and remove the clod water hose at the back of the washer. Then check the debris screen inside of the water valve. If it is plugged you can flush it out with a turkey baster and water. Once it is clean reconnect the hose and turns the water on. Next check the operation. The washer should fill when set to cold. If the water does not come in or comes in slow, I would think the water valve is the problem. The water valve can be ordered from our parts website Sears Parts Direct .

I have provided you with the instructions for replacing the water valve below. Please make sure to unplug the washer before attempting any service on the washer.

Q:

My machine says HF i dont know why

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If it takes too long to fill or if it does not detect water entering, it will display F/H.

I added an image below with some troubleshooting information. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
