Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know what the SL error code means.

The first responder Barbara H. has linked you to a previous answer by Joey S. that fits the problem you are having with your machine.

I have also given you an image below with the definition of the error code and what to do to try to get the machine running again.

I hope this will help

What does an SL error code mean on my calypso washer?

The SL means Suds Lock.

  • The motor controller senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If a potential suds lock is detected, the control tries up to 3 times to clean out the unit with a mini-cycle.
  • SL is displayed if suds are detected but the unit is unable to clean out suds.
    • Check the pump and sump for obstruction and operation.
    • This could be caused by a heavy load, excessive detergent, suds, or a non HE detergent.

If you start a cycle with no clothes, are there visible suds or soap?

  • If so, run a few cycles with no clothes and nothing but hot water.
  • If not make sure you are using the correct soap and amount of soap.

There may also be “drag on the drive system. Check for friction issues, move the basket by hand. Does it feel smooth and move easily?

If you need more assistance please resubmit question with more details. I will be looking forward to helping you again in the near future.

kenmore ultrasoft 150 water softner,

The water softener should have about two inches of water in the bottom of the salt tank. If there is more than that in the salt tank, I recommend cleaning the nozzle venturi first. I posted an image below that shows how to clean the nozzle venturi. Then remove the cover of the brine well on the right side of the salt tank. You need to be sure the float assembly is pushed down to the bottom of the brine well. If it is not, the water will be higher than normal. After it is clean, it could take a few cycles for the water level to get back to normal.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
