Question and Answers

Q:

Proform treadmill shuts off if I set speed higher than 3.4. Is this circuit breaker or lubricant?

A:

I would suspect the belt needs lubrication, the voltage to the treadmill is low, or the circuit breaker is weak.

Test the belt by raising the incline to the maximum level. Stand near the front of the belt and don't turn the motor on. Push yourself firmly toward the rear of the belt. If the belt and walking board are good and the belt is properly lubricated you will slide down the belt to the end of the walking board. If you go 1-2 feet and stop lubricate the walking belt. The part number of the lubrication for the walking belt is 219168. You can order it from www.searspartsdirect.com or buy it at a retail store.

Measure the voltage to the treadmill by removing the motor hood and reading the voltage to the control board under load with a volt meter.

If these are OK replace the circuit breaker.

Q:

what is wrong with my kenmore 3.4 top load washing machine that the lid will not unlock and the red light will not go off?

A:

Based on your description, I am guessing that you have a Kenmore washer that begins with model 110.2002 . . . or a similar model. That type of washer will flash the lid lock light when the lid lock is bad or when you have some other type of washer component failure or problem. If you have that type of washer, you can use the information shown in the first image below to enter the diagnostic test mode. The second image shows how to recall and decipher the fault codes on that model of washer. You may see a lid lock fault code. If you do, then you can unplug the washer and check the wiring connections between the lid lock mechanism and the electronic control board in the console. The third image shows access information for those components and the 4th image shows a wiring diagram with those connections traced in wire colors.

If the connections on the lid lock are okay, then you may be able to fix this problem by replacing that lid lock assembly. You can order from this page: Kenmore Washer Parts . Use the full model number of your washer to access the parts page and order parts for your exact model of washer.

If you have a different type of washer or you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your washer.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How do I know if I have a 30-amp circuit to connect my portable dryer? And a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know if you have the correct circuit for the compact dryer you are planning to buy.

• If you have a designated laundry area in your apartment it should have the correct utilities for laundry hook-ups. This would include 120volt circuit for the washer with a hot and cold water supply and a water drain.

  • For the dryer it should have a 240volt circuit or a gas supply for the dryer and a vent system for the dryer to vent the moisture outside the apartment.

• You can check the circuit box in your bedroom to see if there is a 30 amp double circuit identified for the dryer.

• The picture below will show the wide red circuit breakers as the 240 double breakers. And on the other side the fuse type would require two of those fuses that would say 30amp time delay stamped onto the fuse.

• My concern is that you will need a dryer vent system to exhaust the moisture during the drying cycle. I would not recommend letting it vent into the apartment for health reasons.

• You should be able to ask the apartment owner if it is set-up for laundry appliances.

I hope this will answer your question.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
