Question and Answers

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

This bearing presses into the top of the milk stool assembly. The tub assembly will need to be taken out and then turned upside down. The agitator and gear case will need to be removed. Once the milk stool has been removed, the bearing is accessible.

Removing and replacing the spin bearing #40004001 is not a do it yourself repair. I strongly advise calling a service technician with the proper tools and knowledge to repair your washer. You will be glad you did.

I do not recommend attempting to remove and replace the bearing. This is not a procedure for the DIY.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
