Question and Answers

Q:

Washing machine seems to be skipping rinse & spin cycle, if turned back to spin it will spin and drain, what is causing this problem?

A:

Check to see if the washer is draining properly in the regular cycle before you set it to drain and spin the second time. You could have a problem with the drain system or the drain pump. The troubleshooting for a spin problem is shown in the image below along with some additional technical information for the washer. If the washer is not draining properly, check the washer drain. Check the drain hose and the drain pump. The image below shows how to remove the bottom front service panel to access the drain pump. Be sure that you unplug the washer to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. If the drain system is okay, you could have a problem with the drive motor. It could be overheating in the regular cycle. See if it stays running and properly spins the clothes at the end of the regular cycle.

These tips may help. If you need parts, you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect website.

You may need to have a service technician examine the washer to determine the cause of this spin problem in the regular cycle. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
