Question and Answers

Q:

sav2555aww i have removed the screws and the pump does not want to come out --am i doing something wrong ? thanks

A:

Hi Bill,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

There is not really a trick to it, if the pump has been leaking the shaft has probably corroded and is stuck in the pump. I am including a set of images below that detail removing the pump and motor. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your appliance; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance please reply to this post.

Q:

How do get the front panel off to replace the belt on a 5 year old Maytag washer?

A:

The first image below shows procedures for removing the panels and lifting the top of the washer. You should only need to remove the front panel to complete this repair. NOTE: Be sure to unplug the washer to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Internal metal edges can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended.

I provided additional procedures with illustrations for replacing the belt in this washer. You should attempt this repair only if you are completely confident that you can safely execute these procedures.
