Question and Answers

Q:

I have a 8 year old Maytag SAV205DAWW that is leaking about a cup of water under the bottom. Is it worth the money to repair it. Could I repair it myself.

A:

Hello,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

Without knowing where the water is leaking from that is a difficult question to answer. I recommend removing the front panel and then determining where the leak is coming from. I am including images below that will help you with disassembly.

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

My washing machine is leaking into the tub and we believe we need a new water inlet valve/intake valve/solenoid valve.

A:

Thank you for your question.

If the washer is filling with water, when it is turned off the problem is likely a defective valve. To be sure, I recommend unplugging the washer when you are not using it. If it still fills with water, I recommend replacing the water valve. I have looked up the part number of the valve. The part number is 27001146 and can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the washer.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
