Question and Answers

Q:

Model 665.95012102 When RR or RF burners are turned on, they turn red for a few seconds, then turn off. What part could cause this?

A:

You did not say if you have a pan on the element when this is happening or not. You also did not say what position you are setting the control dial to.

Two things cycle the elements off and on. The switch will cycle the burner off and on if you don't have the dial set to high. The larger the number is the more the element stays on. When you turn the control dial to high the switch will send voltage to the element constantly. The operation of the RR element sounds like it might be normal.

The limiter, which is a part of the element, will also cycle the elements off and on. The limiter will cycle the elements if the control dial is set to high.

To determine which part is bad someone needs to read the voltage to the element at the switch or control. If the switch is sending the voltage to the element and the element is cycling off, the limiter is cycling it.

Q:

craftsman II lawnmower

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. If the starter rope will not come out, I recommend checking the oil level first. If the engine does not have oil, it might be seized up. If the oil level is fine, go ahead and remove the spark plug from the engine. Then try to pull the starter rope. If it still will not come out, leave the spark plug out. Then tip the mower onto its side so the air filter is pointing up. With gloved hands try to turn the blade. If the blade will not turn in either direction, I suspect the engine is seized. The cost to repair the engine would exceed the value of the mower.

If the blade will turn tip the mower back over and try to pull the rope. If it still will not come out, I recommend checking the starter and the engine control. First, remove the starter from the motor. Then see if the rope came off the pulley. If the rope came off the pulley that will likely be the cause of the problem. If the starter works fine off the engine, I suspect the engine control is not being released. When the engine control bail is pulled, the cable should pull on the engine control, and release the brake. If the cable is broken, the brake will not release resulting in not being able to pull the rope out.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance on the mower, please reply below with more details.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Mark.
