Question and Answers

Q:

ran self-clean now oven doesn't heat up it's a whirlpool wall oven.

A:

This oven has a thermal fuse on the outside back panel that could be blown and preventing your oven from heating. The wiring diagram for your oven is shown in the first image with this fuse circled in green.

A technician is normally needed to shut off the breaker and pull out the oven to check this fuse and other components. You could have a problem with the cooling fan blower motor that caused the overheating in the cabinet that resulted in the fuse blowing. The fuse could also have blown due to excessive heat from grease burning off in the oven during the self-clean cycle if the oven had a large amount of residue in it. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to attempt to fix this problem yourself, you would need to shut off the breakers to disconnect electrical power from the oven and pull it out of the cabinet. Reverse the installation procedures to remove the oven. Here is a link for the installation guide for your oven: Installation Instructions . If you are able to carefully pull the oven out of the cabinet to access the back panel, you can try this test:

  • With the breaker still shut off to disconnect electrical power, pull off the wires (red, orange and red/white) that are attached to the thermal fuse and connect them together to bypass the fuse.
  • Tape this connection with electrical tape so that it does not short against the metal back panel or other metal objects.
  • Carefully reinstall the oven back into the cabinet.
  • Reset the breaker to restore electrical power to the oven.
  • Briefly set the oven to bake and see if the elements will heat. Briefly try the broil mode as well.

If the elements are heating properly with this thermal fuse bypassed then you have verified that this component is causing your problem. Shut off the breaker and do not use the oven until you replace this fuse. Do not continue to use the oven with this fuse bypassed. It is an important safety feature of the oven and must be replaced to safely operate the oven. If the fuse continues to blow, you will need to check the blower motor for the cooling fan.

The part number for the thermal fuse (thermostat) is 9759243. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If the oven will not heat with the thermal fuse bypassed then you could have a failed electronic oven control board or a problem with the oven temperature sensor probe. Properly reinstall the wires on the fuse following this test if the oven still does not heat with the fuse bypassed. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

whirlpool accubake wall oven

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to have the ovens bake and broil working.

You are on the right track with the thermal fuse being bad.

You will need to get behind the oven and remove the back panel to check and or replace the thermal fuse.

To check the fuse you can use your multi-meter to check for continuity across the fuse connections after removing one of the wire leads.

The part number for the thermal fuse is:9759243 and if you determine that you need it you can purchase it from:Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
