Question and Answers

Q:

I have a Whirpool electric built-in oven (Model #RBS275PDQ8) which I'm having problems with it shutting off & giving an error message "F2E1. Can you help?

A:

The F2 E1 code indicates that the control board "keytail" or ribbon cable is disconnected. That keytail is circled in red on the first image below. I recommend that you shut off the circuit breaker for the range for 3 minutes and then reset it to reboot the electronic control board. If that F2 E1 code returns when you power the oven back up, I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breaker again and access that keytail connection as shown in the second image. Check that connection to make sure it is plugged in securely. Check the contacts on the end of that keytail for corrosion. Clean those contacts if necessary. Plug the keytail back in and see if the F2 E1 returns. If it does, then the next step in troubleshooting this problem would be to replace that control key panel. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. You can order the correct color for your oven from that website.

If you replace that control panel and still see that code, then you may also need to replace that control board (part 8186024).

Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing and replacing internal components.
