Q:

Kenmore oven model 75675690 went out nov 2009. Replaced and went out again Dec 2010. Is oven too old?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand you concern. The model number you provided is not a complete and valid model number.

Without a valid model number I will not be able to provide any model specific information or trouble shooting assistance.

If the glow bar ignitor is glowing red but the gas valve never opens in order to have burner ignition, then the glow bar igniter is most likely too weak to cause the oven safety valve to open and the ignitor will have to be replaced. I added an image below with the theory of operation.

If the igniter is not glowing, it could have failed or the oven control or safety valve.

Reply with the model number and additional details for model specific troubleshooting assistance.

Q:

My kenmore electric range stove 79094383700 i bought this at sears dec,of 2007

A:

I understand your concern about this failure. That type of short circuit can create a dangerous condition. If the range was properly installed, that type of failure would normally be covered during the 1 year warranty period. Since the range is outside of that warranty period, that failure is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Due to the nature of that failure, I recommend that you have a service technician examine and repair the range. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to examine and repair the range yourself, you may be able to fix it by replacing the power cord and the terminal block (part 5303935271). You would also need to pull the back panels off (with the range still unplugged ) and examine the wiring. You may need to replace that clock control board in the console it that component was damaged when the power cord connections shorted out. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
