Q:

Poulan snowthrower problem

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the snow blower. I recommend checking the shear pins first. If the pins are sheared, the whole auger assembly could move side to side. I do not know if it would be enough for the impeller to hit the housing. While looking for sheared bolts in the auger I recommend looking for bent side shields and worn bearings. The image below has the side shields marked in blue and the bearings in red. If the bearings are worn, I recommend replacing all of them at once. The reason is the labor involved in replacing three bearings is the same as replacing one. Here is a link to order any parts you need. Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

Please feel free to reply below with more details if you need further assistance.
