Q:

tines

A:

Thank you for your question.   I am sorry you are having a problem with the tow behind tiller model number 917242484.   I searched our site and others on line for the tines. It looks as if these tines have not been in production for quite some time. I am sorry I could not find a source for these tines. You may be able to have a local welder fabricate and weld on new tines to the old hubs. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the tractor.      Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.

Q:

Servicing Craftsman Tiller

A:

Thank you for your question.  I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you have submitted. The manual is correct. The transmission on this model is not serviceable. If it were broke, the whole transmission would need to be replaced. If it were just leaking, I would recommend drilling a hole in the case and installing a grease zerk. The grease zerk will allow you add grease without opening the unit up. I have had customers tell me this work great and they feel better being able to add grease. If you do this, I recommend pumping about five pumps per year. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.

Q:

Why do the tines keep breaking on my 42" core plugger?

A:

Thank you for your question on the breakage of the plug cutter and spring rake.

The only suggestion I have to wait until after a good rain and then wait a couple of days to use the plugger so the ground is softer.

Also if you have a lot of weight on the top of it and you run over a hard surface like a driveway or sidewalk it will break the tines.

This product is made for us by OHIO Steel out of Ohio.

I am sorry that they do not have re-enforced tines and springs at this time to replace the old ones.

I am sorry that you are dissatisfied with the quality of this product. I am sure that it could be made much better.

At this point all I can do is to make the engineer at the home office aware of your problem and have him address it with the manufacturer.

Thank you for your concern and I will follow up with the product engineer.
