Question and Answers

Q:

Part #316441801

A:

You will need to shut off the house circuit breaker for the range first. You will then need to open the console to access that controller. The basic procedure for opening the console on this type of range is shown in the image below. You range will look different than the one shown below but the basic procedure should be about the same. Once you open the console, you can remove the existing controller and replace it. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Q:

I have a eletric range #PLES389ECG. I need to know why my door isn't closing properly. What kind of adjustment kind I do to fix's this problem. Please help.

A:

You could have a problem with the oven door hinges or the receptacles. You can remove the oven door from the range as shown in the first image below. Inspect the receptacles and the hinges. The second image shows how to access the hinges inside the door. Make sure that the screws are tight. If you are able to adjust the hinges and/or receptacles so that the oven door closed properly, then you won't need to replace any parts. If some of the parts are damaged, then you may need to order and replace those components. There is a kit that has one hinge and one receptacle for that range. That kit is part number 903128-9010. If you have a damaged or broken hinge, you can order that kit to replace the hinge and receptacle. If you need to replace both hinges and both receptacles, then you will need to order 2 of those kits. You can order those kits from the Sears PartsDirect website. Here is a direct link for that part: Hinge & Receptacle Kit . Be sure that you unplug the range when accessing internal components if you need to replace those receptacles on the side of the range.

These tips should help you repair this problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
