Q:

kenmore pro 4100 won't heat up after using self cleaning function. is less than 1 year old

A:

I recommend that you check the house circuit breakers or house fuses for the oven. The control will work if only 120 volts of power is provided to the oven. If the second leg of 120 volts for the 240 volt power supply is missing, the oven elements will not heat.

If the circuit breakers are okay, I recommend that you have the oven serviced by a technician under the warranty. The details of your warranty are in the owner's manual. Here is a link for the manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual . You can call Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) for service.

There is a chance that the thermal circuit breaker on the outside wall of the oven cavity tripped during that self clean cycle. While the oven is under warranty, I recommend that you have the service technician reset that component and check the oven components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Hello Kristi. The oven that Dylan has is still under warranty. If yours is under warranty then I recommend that you have it serviced as recommended above. If it is not under warranty and you want to fix it yourself, then you can shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven. You can carefully pull the oven out of the wall and remove the outside back panel. You should see a thermal circuit breaker like the one shown in the image below. Press the red reset button and reassemble the oven. Install it back into the counter and see if the elements will heat. If they do then I recommend that you monitor the operation of the elements to make sure that one of them is not heating constantly or the oven is not overheating in a normal bake or broil mode. If the oven works normally then you probably just had a situation where the oven got hotter than normal due to excessive spills or residue in that self clean mode. I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Q:

Door latch broke on over stove microwave

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It would likely cost as much or more to have the door latch replaced by a service technician as it would to purchase a new over the range microwave. I added a link to Sear.com where you can shop and compare prices and features on the new over the range microwaves.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VDC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician.

You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.
