Question and Answers

Q:

RANGE WILL NOT HEAT TO 350 DEGREES

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, it sounds like one of the two oven elements is not heating. First, since the broil element is visible, from a cold start, turn the broiler on and see if the broil element is getting hot. If it does, I suspect it could have a faulty hidden bake element or possible a faulty electronic oven control. The oven control alternates the broil element along with the bake element during the bake cycle and this is why both oven elements must heat in order to reach the set bake temperatures.

I strongly suggest calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair your oven.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Q:

Do I need to replace the touchscreen control panel on my Kenmore Elite 790.9912* range?

A:

Since the control panel is not responding, it will likely need to be replaced. The updated User Interface Board and Power Board are normally replaced as a kit with the EOC (Electronic Oven Control) board. These are sensitive devices. It is likely that replacing the control panel will fix your problem but there is no absolute guarantee that it will work or that the boards will continue to work properly. We normally recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair a control problem on this type of range since it has the multiple control boards. The service and parts normally have at least a 90 day guarantee when a service technician completes the repair.

If you want to continue to repair this problem yourself, be sure that you check the wiring connections between the control boards and the control panels. Make sure that all wiring connections are secure. Replacing the control panel will likely fix your problem. If not, you may need to order the kit (part 5304455004) that contains the EOC, UIB and power board to replace those boards all at once.

I am not aware of any common problems with the broiler element burning out in this model of Kenmore range. I am showing that the broiler element (part 316203301) is currently available.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

gas wall oven accessory kit

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I was not aware of any vent kit available then or now that could be installed in order to convert the oven to vent out the top of the oven to the outside. According to my resources there is no vent kit available.
