Question and Answers

Q:

I can not get the timer knob off in order to remove the screw that holds the timer on. How do I get the knob to release? NTW4500VQ1 Amana Washer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

In order to remove the timer knob will require accessing the back of the timer. On the back of the timer you will see where a small portion of the timer shaft exits. It will generally have the instruction written or stamped on the plastic body.  Place a small pocket screwdriver through the opening on the timer shaft behind the timer and then pull the knob off.
The control will need to be placed in the service position. Remove the two screws located at the back of each of the two control panel end caps. Slide the control panel towards the front of the washer and then lift it up and hinge it over the rear panel. I added an image below showing the how to remove the timer knob if you do not see the directions written on the back of the timer. If you're removing the old timer to replace it with a new timer, look on the back of the new timer for directions. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing the washer.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
