Question and Answers

Q:

What would cause my dryer to take 2-3 cycles to dry?

A:

First, if your dryer is an electric dryer and not gas remove the vent hose from the rear of the dryer and dry a load. If it dries the clothes in one cycle normally that would indicate a venting issue. Open the door and remove the lint filter and check for a blockage down in the lint filer housing. Inspect the lint filter, take the filter and run water over it to see it the water will pass freely through it. If you use fabric softener it will leave a clear layer over the little holes and restrict the airflow. Take the lint filter and wash it off with water and a brush. Use a vacuum to clean the lint out. Any airflow problem will cause the dryer to take longer to dry. If it's a gas dryer it could have weak gas solenoid coils and it's not always opening the gas valve.

If you’re confident that there are no air flow restrictions I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.

Q:

Error 23. Can I fix this problem ?

A:

The E23 error code on this machine indicates that the drain pump relay on the control board has failed. You will need to replace the control board in the console to fix this type of problem. The part number for that control board is 137006010. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

The basic procedure for replacing the control board is shown in image below. Before you attempt this repair, I recommend that you carefully review that procedure. If you are confident that you can properly complete this procedure, then you can probably replace that control board yourself. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Q:

Frigidaire ATF6000FS1 Error Code 23.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The drain pump can be checked with an Ohm meter for resistance. The drain pump should measure 12 Ohms plus or minus 7%.

Disconnect the washer from the power source before disconnecting the wires from the drain pump and measuring the drain pump for resistance.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

A:

Robbie: If the drain pump is pulling more current than the electronic switch can handle, it can and will likely cause the electronic switch to fail. Replace the drain pump and control at the same time and it should operate normally again. Everything now days are way over engineered in my opinion and I agree with you.
