Question and Answers

Q:

Washer Maytag model mvwc300vw1, not spinning at the end of cycle.

A:

Check to see if the washer is agitating properly. If it agitates then the motor coupler is apparently okay. If it will not agitate or spin (even though the motor is running) and the washer drains okay then the motor coupler (part 285852A) is probably broken. You can order a new motor coupler from this page: Motor Coupler for Maytag Washer MVWC300VW1 . Here is a repair video that shows how to access and replace that component: Washing Machine Motor Coupler Replacement . If that motor coupler is okay, you could have a problem with that clutch if the motor is running but the basket is not spinning. Several other failures could prevent the washer from spinning. Reply with additional details if you need more help with this problem.

Q:

REPLACE TIMER

A:

Hi Gary,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

Here is a video that demonstrates gaining access to the components in the console of a washer like yours; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The washer in this video may not look exactly like yours but the procedure is basically the same.

You will need to pull the back end of the shaft (see image below) to release the timer knob.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed for your Maytag model number MVWC300VW1 washer .

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Q:

model mvwc300vw1 wont agitate, replaced agitator cam still wont

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have clear or full understanding of the issue. Are you saying the lower part of the agitator is not moving back and forth or are you saying the augur is not ratcheting one direction when washing? The augur is only going to ratchet one direction when resistance is applied to the augur. If you were to place the palm of the hand on top of the augur when the washer is agitation, the augur should ratchet one direction.

Now, if the agitator is not moving and the basket won't spin during the drain and spin cycles, the motor coupler is likely broken.

During spin, the augur will freewheel and it can be held stationary. During agitation, the lower part of the agitator should move back and forth and augur will ratchet in one direction only when enough friction is applied to the augur.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
