Question and Answers

Q:

My Maytag washer only washes and rinses in Hot water no matter what setting its on.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

First; make sure the hoses are not reversed and reconnect the wires back up properly to the inlet valve like it was originally. When the hot water is running and the fill hose gets hot, make sure that hose is connected the hot inlet port.

Based on your symptom it sounds like it may have a faulty inlet water valve assembly. I added an image below with the procedure of testing the water inlet valves and dispenser valves. Note: I do not recommend measuring any voltages unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

Disconnect the power cord from the power source before measuring the resistance of the the water inlet solenoid coils with an Ohm meter.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

Darren: The second page is on the image. You will need an Ohm meter to check the resistance of each solenoid on each valve. The Ohm resistance should be between 790-840 Ohms.
