Q:

? on mod # 917.773750

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. I have looked up the part number for the cable and it changes to part number 181699. I tried to find an image of the new part so I could see what the eng looked like but did not find any. If the z end is like all the others put the end in the hole and zigzag it into the hole. I have provided you with an image below that show the end inserted. I hope this is helpful.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for the reply. I am sorry for the delay in answering your question. For some reason I did not get the alert. If the end of the new cable just has a hook, I would suspect the cable would connect from the bottom. Connect the cable from the bottom and engage the lever. Then check for clearance issues between the belt and cable. If it is hitting connect it from the top and do the same check. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

My Pro-form treadmill, mod 299560, serial 91112077, stops running before the program is finished. What causes this?

A:

Several things can cause a treadmill to stop.

If you have to wait 20-30 minutes to start it back, the overload is tripping in the motor. This can be caused by low voltage to the treadmill from the house wiring or an extension cord that is too small. It can also be caused by a walking belt that needs lubrication. You can also have a weak overload in the motor.

If the treadmill will start back immediately after it stops you could have a cold solder joint in the power supply, motor controller, or the console. The most frequent cause of this is a wiring harness with a bad connection or a wire that is bare and shorting to the frame.

I am sending you the instructions to check for a belt that needs lubrication.

To test the belt lubrication, do not turn the treadmill motor on. Set the elevation to the highest level. Stand near the front of the walking belt. Push yourself firmly toward the rear of the treadmill. If the belt is properly lubricated the belt will take you to the rear edge of the treadmill and dump you off on the floor. If you move and stop, the belt needs lubricating.

The part number for the belt lubrication kit is 219168. You can buy it at [www.searspartsdirect.com]. The cost is around $4.00. The application instructions should be in the package, but in case they are not here is how to apply the lubrication.

Turn the walking belt until the belt seam is along the top of the front roller. Raise the belt on one side in the center of the walking board front to back as high as you can. Apply ½ the tube of lubrication to the walking board in a zig zag fashion moving from front to back. Move the belt until the seam comes up on top of the rear roller and lift the belt again and put the rest of the lubrication on the walking board in the same manner. Turn the treadmill on and walk on the belt for 10-20 minutes. Walk all over the belt to distribute the lubrication evenly on the walking belt and board.
