Q:

My electric lawn mower is slow to start up it sputters and then fully turns. How can I fix it?

A:

You should turn the mower on the side and clean any debris from underneath the deck and on the motor shaft. Visually inspect the blade for any spots on it that show wear where it has been rubbing on something.

If the noise is coming from the motor, I don't think you will want to repair it.

The blade on most lawnmowers should be replaced after 2 years of use. Since you use your mower less than usual, you can probably go 3 years. If the engine starts bogging down when cutting, the blade probably needs replacing.
