Question and Answers

Q:

MAYTAG GEMINI ELECTRIC RANGE MODEL MER6772BAB bottom heating element not working put a new one in.

A:

Thank you for your question.

  • It is good that you are looking to repair your upper oven bake circuit. As you said you replaced the upper oven bake element. In looking at the wiring diagram the orange wire from the bake element goes directly to the relay on the control board.

  • To make sure that it is the relay that is bad on the board,we could do an experiment to validate that theory.

  • If you feel comfortable enough with the electrical wirings on the control. First REMOVE POWER to the range and exchange the tan wire for the broil for the Orange wire on the bake on the relay. Then restore power and try the broil to see if the bake comes on. If it does then the control board relay for bake is bad, and you will need a new oven control.

  • Again REMOVE POWER from the range.

  • To get to the control, pull the range away from the wall and remove the upper control panel and locate the electronic range control do the wire trade. Remember when you are done to remove the power and return the wire to the correct locations.
