Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't the burner work properly on my Maytag range model MER6771AAQ?

A:

The symptoms that you describe do point to a failed infinite switch on the right front burner. If you successfully replaced the limiter, then you will likely be able to replace the infinite switch. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components. If you are not completely confident in your technical ability to safely access and replace this switch, I recommend calling a service technician to complete the repair.

I provided the wiring schematic and wiring diagram in the image below in case you need it. You may find a wiring diagram inside the console of your range. If you do, I recommend that you use that information instead of the diagram below. The wiring of a specific series within a Maytag model can sometimes change slightly. The series is indicated by the first two digits of the serial number.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details and the serial number of your range.
