Question and Answers

Dryer Not heating MDG9316AWW Maytag Electric/gas dryer

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The most likely failure begining with the most likely to less likely is:

  1. Broken glowbar igniter
  2. Solenoid coils
  3. High limit thermostat
  4. Cycling thermostat
  5. Timer
  6. Motor centrifugal switch

I would begin by disconnecting the power cord from the power source and following the instructions in the image below for removing the front panel. The glow bar igniter is mounted near the end of the burner. You can disconnect the igniter and then using an Ohm meter to check acoss the two wires of the igniter for continuity. If the Ohm meter does not measure any continuity, replace the glow bar igniter. I added two images below, one of the two images should pertain to your model. The image will show how to remove the front panel.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
