Q:

Dryer timer that I purchased does not work properly MDE6400AYW

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Ordering and getting the proper timer for a Maytag dryer will require knowing the series number of the dryer. The series number is the first two digits of the serial number. Based on your symptom and details, you could have the wrong timer for your specific dryer serial number.

Timer part number for a Maytag dryer model MDE6400 AYW with the serial number that begins with 10 up to series 15 is part # 33002855.

The part number for the timer for the Maytag dryer model MDE6400AYW with the serial number that begins 16 or above would use timer part # 33002803.

The timer part number 33002855  that you purchased and installed is for series number 10 up to series 15. Since I do not have your serial number I can only suggest to check the series number of your dryer and make sure you ordered the correct timer.

I hope this helpful.
