Question and Answers

Q:

Maytag dishwaster does not come on.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the dishwasher accepts the command when a cycle and option button are pushed but not start the cycle when the "Start" button is pushed; it could have a door switch failure or control board failure. I highly recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair your dishwasher. The door switch operation will need to be tested using an Ohm meter. If the door switches are Okay then I would assume the control board may have failed. NOTE: If decide to test the door switches; be sure to disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before doing so.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Where can I find instructions to run the diagnostics for a MDBH979AWB3 maytag dishwasher.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following key presses or actions in less than 6 seconds while in standby:

Heated Dry---Normal---Heated Dry---Normal

I also added images below with the technical data sheet. The technical data sheet is located under the tub or behind the lower access panel.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Denny: If the door is not sealing in the upper right corner it may need a new door seal or the dishwasher may not be sitting square or level. Also, check the seal where the vent assembly mates to the inner door panel. Steam could be leaking past the vent seal into the control panel area too.

A:

Denny: It could cause electrical issues but it would not cause steam. Steam or moisture can cause issues with the touch panel or control. The dishwasher should be grounded if it's not. The dishwasher should be connected with a ground wire.
