Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my dishwasher fill with water instead of making a noise?

A:

If the noise is emitting from the water inlet valve the likely failure is a restriction in the filter screen inside the water inlet valve, a failed water inlet valve or a restriction in the water supply to the dishwasher.

I added an image below with instructions on how to remove, test, clean the filter screen and replace the water inlet valve.

I do not recommend cleaning the filter screen. If the screen is full of debris I recommend replacing the water inlet valve. Water valve part number (99002975) I added a link to Sears Parts Direct if you need to order a valve.

Q:

Why won't my Maytag QuietSeries 200 dishwasher start?

A:

Check to see if the float switch in the bottom of the tub is stuck in the "up" position. This would result in the dishwasher not filling.

Make sure that the door is closed securely. Press in slightly on the door and see if the dishwasher will start. If you suspect a problem with the door switch, you can check it using the technical information in the image below. I provided access instructions in the left side of the image. A wiring diagram is also provided. A failed switch in the door or a wiring failure could be preventing the dishwasher from starting. Shut off the breaker and check the continuity through the door switches using the wiring diagram as a guide. With the door switches shut (depressed), you should measure continuity (zero ohms of resistance) through the door switches. If one of the door switches is bad, the door latch assembly will need to be replaced. You can order a new latch assembly from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the door latch assembly is 99003347. If just a microswitch is bad, you can order just a replacement microswitch. The part number for a microswitch is 99002751.

If the door switches are okay, you could have a failed start switch. I provided diagnostic test information in the image as well. You can use this information to test the console. You should only conduct the diagnostic tests and troubleshooting provided below if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely complete them. I do not recommend performing any live voltage checks. Make sure that the breaker is shut off to the dishwasher before accessing internal components.
