Question and Answers

Q:

leaky dishwasher. Maytag Model MDB8600AWB.

A:

Since the door is loose at the bottom, it is not likely a door gasket or seal issue. You could have a problem with the door hinges being bent or you could have a tub that is warped.

You can shut off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher and pull it out from under the counter to examine the door hinges. Here is a link for the installation guide that will help you pull the dishwasher out and access those components: Installation Instructions .

If you find problems with the door hinges, you may be able to tighten them or bend them back into place. If you need to replace components, you can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

NOTE : On Maytag dishwashers, you will normally need to use the first two numbers of the serial number (which indicate the "series" revision) to order the correct parts. The rule of thumb for ordering parts that use the series number is to order the part that is closest to your series number without going over that number. For example: If you have a Series 12 dishwasher and there is a Series 10 and Series 16 part, you will need to order the Series 10 part. Your dishwasher has not yet reached the Series 16 revision. You would not be able to use the Series 16 part. This is sometimes confusing to reply with the full serial number of your dishwasher if you need help ordering parts.

You can also check the door gasket for damage. Even though this is not the likely problem based on your description, it is worth checking.

If the gasket is okay and you find no problems with the door hinge, you could have a warped tub. A problem with the inner door panel could also be causing this problem. NOTE : Refer to the warranty information in your owner's manual regarding these components. Here is a direct link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual . Refer to the warranty information on page 15 of that manual. The inner door panel and tub should be covered if they are defective. I recommend that you call Maytag at 1-800-688-9900 if you suspect that you have problems with these components.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will help you further.
