Question and Answers

Q:

Maytag dishwasher not working MDB7609AWW2

A:

There is a fuse in the power supply for that electronic control board that could have tripped when the heating element failed. That component may be preventing the dishwasher from powering up. You can view that fuse on the parts diagram that is on this page: Maytag Dishwasher Model MDB7609AWW2 Repair Parts.

You can access that fuse in the dishwasher by removing screws on the inner door panel to release the console. Shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher before accessing internal components.

If that fuse is blown then it will need to be replaced. You can check the fuse with a volt/ohm meter. It should measure near zero ohms of resistance. If the fuse measures OL (open load or infinite resistance) then it will need to be replaced.

If the dishwasher will not power up after replacing that heating element and the fuse is okay, then you will probably need to replace that electronic control board in the console.

I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, reply with additional details.

A:

There is a complete door latch assembly that includes the switch. That part is W10077360. The individual door switch can also be replaced if the door latch is mechanically operating properly. The part number for the switch is 8269209.

Q:

Some lights work but dishwasher won't start MDB7609AWW2 Maytag Dishwasher

A:

There should be a tech sheet inside the dishwasher kick panel that describes some diagnostic testing. Unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker for that appliance and remove that bottom front kick panel under the door. On the inside of the kick panel or access panel, you should find a document folded up inside a protective pouch. Use that tech sheet to place the dishwasher in the diagnostic test mode (pressing Heated Dry, Normal Wash, Heated Dry, Normal Wash buttons from standby within 6 seconds starts the diagnostic test cycle). That diagnostic test cycle will turn on all of the control panel lights. It will then step through a 10 minute test cycle to check all of the components. If that test cycle starts and completes properly then the electronic control board is probably okay. That tech sheet describes testing of the control panel using a volt/ohm meter with precision probes (needle probes). You can check that control panel if you suspect that it is bad. If the control panel or electronic control is bad, then you may have a problem with the seal on the vent that goes through the door. Steam can enter the control panel and corrupt the control components if that seal is bad.

Unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker for that appliance before accessing internal components.

If you cannot find the tech sheet, let us know and we should be able to provide a PDF copy of that document. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
