Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my dishwasher propel water around the dishes for cleaning?

A:

You will need to replace the nozzle part 99001787 that you found broken. If you still have trouble with the dishwasher spraying properly after replacing this part, follow these steps:

  • Check the water level in the dishwasher. Let a cycle fill and then crack the door to stop the dishwasher before the normal spray would start. Open the door fully and look at the water level in the bottom of the tub. It should be just touching the heating element. If the water level is too low, the dishwasher will not spray properly. If you detect a low water level, manually add water to the dishwasher with a bucket and see if this improves the spray performance.
  • Check for cracks or splits in the spray arms. Check the spray holes for deposits that could inhibit proper spray.
  • If you are able to disassemble the lower dishwasher spray arm assembly, you can check the seal ring (Key 3 in the image below) to see if it is damaged. This could prevent the dishwasher from spraying properly.
  • Check the pump filters for debris or buildup that could inhibit water flow.
If these tips don't help, you could have a pump or motor failure. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this type of problem.
