Q:

Craftsman Snowblower Repair in MA

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the snow blower. The starter on your model is riveted to the blower housing. To replace the rope on this model the blower housing needs to be removed. The image below shows how to remove the blower housing. Click on the image to enlarge it. Once the blower housing is removed you can replace the starter rope. I found a video that shows how to replace the starter rope. Click here to watch the video.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

i need instructions on installing ma new carborator

A:

The service procedures for the carburetor on this type of engine (Tecumseh TC 200) are shown in the image below. Your engine should have a Tillotson carburetor. This information may help you reassemble the carburetor.

If you do not feel confident installing this carburetor yourself, then you can have it installed by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Toilet leak repair--do I need a licensed plumber in MA?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern as to whether or not you may need a licensed plumber to do the repair.

The first responder Barbara H. has given you some links to your states codes.

I do not know about the Massachusetts law requirements, but in most states the home owner has the right to repair his or her own plumbing.

But if you are going to pay someone it has to be a licensed plumber.

If you have had a plumber look at the toilet then I would go with his suggestions.

If the toilet is leaking around the wax seal and has been for some time it will rot the floor out and you can have some major floor repairs.

If you are planning to due this yourself you will not completely know what you are up against until you remove the toilet from the floor flange.

If it has been leaking for awhile and the flange is made of metal it may also have to be replaced.

If the flange is still strong enough to hold the toilet solid you may have to only replace the wax bowl seal and that is a fairly easy task.

I hope this will help and as I said you will not know for sure what you will have to do until you remove the toilet.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
