Question and Answers

Q:

Have a Whirlpool washer # LSR7010PQ2 where basket is not rotating and draining. Agitator seems okay. Can you help to find the problem and part number possibly

A:

Hi Jerilyn,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

You do not mention whether or not the motor is running at all. I will assume the motor does not run. The lid switch is most likely the cause of your washer not agitating, draining, or spinning. The lid switch must be good for the motor to work on this washer.

To test this you can temporarily bypass the lid switch. To bypass the lid switch you will need to roll the console back and gain access to the lid switch and harness (see images below). Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

Once you have access to the lid switch, unplug the lid switch harness and place an insulated bypass wire between the grey and white wires in the harness. Make sure this will not touch anything metal. I recommend taping it really well with electrical tape. Plug the washer back in and start a cycle. If the washer agitates, you will need to replace the lid switch (part number 8318084). Do not leave this bypass in place and continue using your washer. This is for testing purposes only.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to purchase the lid switch for your Whirlpool model number LSR7010PQ2 washer .

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Jerilyn,

Now I am sort of confused. The motor runs but the washer will not agitate, drain, or spin? That sounds more like 2 separate issues, a bad motor coupler and a faulty drain pump.

Please clarify the details so that I may help you further. You are sure the washer will not drain, agitate, or spin but the motor runs.

Jerilyn,

From the additional details you have given me I recommend checking the clutch on this washer. I am including a video below that demonstrates gaining access to and replacing the clutch. Examine the clutch for worn or damage parts. I am also providing you a link you may use to purchase the clutch below.

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.
