Question and Answers

Q:

washer model # lsl9244eq0 stops mid cycle various places if timer knob moved slightly will continue thru cycle how to troubleshoot i suspect timer is fault

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have full and clear understanding of your symptoms. If you’re indicating the timer is sticking and not advancing while it’s agitating or when its drain or spinning then I would suspect a faulty timer. If the motor quits running and you have to manually advance the timer to start the washer I would suspect a faulty timer. If it just sits there after the tub as filled with water it may have a faulty water level pressure switch.

To verify if the timer is faulty you will have to monitor the voltage supply to the timer motor. There will be two smaller wires connecting the timer motor to the timer terminals. Place the voltage meter leads across the two leads and if voltage is present and the timer is not advancing; replace the timer.

NOTE: I do not recommend checking voltage unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

The timer is part #3951703 which can be ordered from SearsPartsDirect .
