The serial number of the GE washer indicates the washer was manufactured in October of 2000. The serial number of the Maytag dryer indicates the dryer was manufactured in September of 2003.

how do i get access behind the control panel, in order to change the water selector switch, on a maytag #LSG7806AAE?

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. I should be able to help you with replacing the switch. I have looked through our service manuals and posted the instructions for accessing the switch below. Use the instructions to access the switch. I recommend making a diagram of the wires before you remove the old switch.

Please unplug the laundry center before servicing the washer.
